Terrible.

Now I go to Brinkmann's Hardware in Miller Place, they are wonderful there.

Living close by, I went to this hardware store several times purchasing everything from paint to electrical supplies. The selection is very good, the prices are a little high (as other reviewers have stated), but I appreciated the convenience and always try to support the smaller local businesses. On one occasion, I stopped in on my way back from a trail hike with my dog at the Rocky Point bike trails and brought her - leashed - in the store with me. My dog has been in many establishments where she is allowed, and she is a well-behaved, patient, and dignified animal. She will sit and wait on command and follow closely to do her job of guarding me, but she is completely indifferent to strangers and does not like to be touched by those she does not know (who could blame her?). She is a good-looking dog so she gets a lot of attention when we go out; many people want to pet her and those who know animals and have respect will ask first if it is okay. An Ace Hardware employee chose not to ask, and insisted that he is a "dog person," that he has dogs, and yet, the way he greeted my dog made me wonder if he considered her experience and comfort level at all. He put his gloved hand right in her face and over her head to try to pet her, and when she ducked away, he persisted. My dog will not bite, even with this very obnoxious provoking, but she continued to dodge him when he tried to put his hand over her face like he was "playing" with her. I informed him that she does not like being touched by those she doesn't know and when he continued, she eventually barked at him. He then crossed his arms over his chest and stormed off like a child in rebellion saying that my dog was "mean" and something to the effect that she should not be in the store.

They ate pretty helpful but high prices!?

This experience has kept me from ever returning to this store. Customer service is a big deal to me, above prices and convenience, and this employee represented the business poorly. I can't recommend this place because doing business with responsible and conscious human beings is important.

I have been there many times, spent a lot of money there. bought 2 $6 light bulbs, 1 blew out after a week. I expect that only from the "big store" cheap bulbs. going back to the big store.

Been here 3 times, items are always out of stock despite calling and verifying that the items were available. I called to cut plexi glass cut and the guy's response was "My cutters been broken for a year and a half". Who owns this store??

If you treat local customers like that, I mine as well go to Lowes and Home depot. When a place like this goes out of business they will wonder why. A lesson for Costello= High prices need great customer service, I can get treated better at a low price big chain.

Prices seem kinda high but staff is helpful

The final straw, I bought 2 keys from the dealer so I did not have the no name key, they would not cut them for me even if i paid the for there key. Last time I go there, I am a local to there and try to shop the small stores, but they do not care about there customers I guess.

Some of the staff is clueless too about technical stuff. Wish I new who owned it so I could let him know. What a joke!
